These are some famous fictional robots (not to scale). They represent expectations (both positive and negative) about what robots could and, in some cases, should be: for instance, in the case of Bender,  the plots contain many references to its (his?) emotions (or possible lack thereof). From the Wikipedia: ''Despite being a robot, Bender has been seen to show emotion on many occasions, going so far as to shed a tear in "Crimes of the Hot", to the astonishment of Fry. One of the series' running jokes revolves around Bender having emotions, while technically he should be unfeeling. In the second Anthology of Interest, Bender proclaims, "Because I'm a robot, I don't have any emotions, and sometimes, that makes me sad."''

Welcome to the Robots@L2F wiki.

This wiki is about robots and how they can interact with people in intelligent ways. We are still in infancy (both in the work and in this wiki), but we hope to get up to speed as time goes by.

The Cylons project is a project partially funded by FCT (through four scholarships), first for enabling a humanoid robot to interact with humans using speech, and also to enable it to understand its surrounding environment.

LIREC is an ambitious European Project for building robotic entities capable of engaging humans in meaningful long-term relationships. We also contribute to this project in areas concerning speech interaction.
